Artem have just completed work on a new campaign to promote “Aussie” hair care products in the USA.
Aussie produce a variety of shampoos, conditioners, styling aids and hairsprays containing natural Australian ingredients such as Kangaroo Paw Flower, Tea Tree Oil, and Balm Mint.
The new campaign – conceptualised by The Kaplan Thaler Group, New York - features Kylie (you’d never guess she was Australian) the Kangaroo hopping off a flight from Australia into the USA.
After having her passport checked, she is pulled aside by customs and asked to “empty her pockets”.
Kylie dutifully proceeds to delve into her pouch revealing some Aussie “3 Minute Miracle” conditioner among her belongings. The feisty officer, quickly deduces that it could be construed as an illegal “plant product” confiscates it and disappears. Three minutes later, she emerges almost unrecognisably with beautiful locks to further interrogate Kylie as to whether or not “she has anything further to declare?”
The puppet kangaroo was produced by Artem for Production Company Quiet Storm in the UK.
She was fabricated out of foam and then finished by a team of specialist fur technicians using specially dyed materials.
SFX Designer, Bob Thorne said:
“With only five weeks to sculpt and produce the 5ft 6” animatronic purple Kangaroo, a good rapport with both the production company and the agency was essential. Thankfully they were a pleasure to work with, making the team’s hard work worthwhile. The pay off was seeing the puppeteers bringing ‘Kylie’ to life in the studio.” |
