Artem made the miniature sets for the award winning Lipton Brisk campaign featuring stop frame puppets of famous actors.

We worked on five one fifth scale sets for the series - the Planet Hollywood stage, the Planet Hollywood bar, the Oriental dojo interior, Hong Kong exterior set and the New York street set.

Both the Planet Hollywood sets were based on a composite ideal which incorporated elements taken from photographs and drawings of several Planet Hollywood restaurants in the United States. In addition to the main set there were also a large number of generic model film props that were required for the stop-frame animated characters to interact with. These included a drum kit and other musical instruments, various weaponry including Rambo’s bazooka, a blue whale and 200 scale models of the canned drinks themselves. An amazing attention to detail was required as the sets themselves were required to be as realistic as possible in order to make the settings believable.

The reference for the oriental sets was provide by various contacts Artem have in Hong Kong to ensure the finished model was as authentic as possible. This ensured that even the minute details were in keeping with the desired, authentic look required.  For example, we ensured that the Chinese characters in the model neon signs actually meant something sensible and that the (already miniaturissed) bonsai trees maintained their reality when made even smaller. Artem still have an extensive library of beautifully illustrated bonsai books left over from the job should anybody wish to make an offer!

The final commercial in the campaign was made for broadcast at the Superbowl (the biggest advertising event of the year) and required us to shrink a New York Street to one sixth of real size - complete with yellow cab, fire hydrants, fruit and veg stall, road signs, trash cans and traffic lights.
