The Apprentice remains one of the UK's most popular reality TV shows. Contestants must convince Lord Alan Sugar and his advisors that they have what it takes to enter into partnership with Lord Sugar.
Production Designer Dan Betteridgefrom Surfaces approached us for some Modelmaking, 3D Printing, Fire and Explosions which were needed in a lighthearted promo to promote the 14th series of the BBC show.
Dan and his team provided us with STL files of three Lord Sugar heads that were 3D printed and fitted to dolls supplied by Art dept. The heads and ties were painted to resemble a miniature Alan Sugar doll suspended form a conveyor belt. In addition we also produced an 'Action Man' boxed toy complete with talking mouth, and applied decals and finish to several alarm clocks.
We adapted four 'Waving Cat' ornaments with 3D printed components so that they wave. The Art department supplied suitable STL files and high resolution 3D prints were produced, the figures were then finished with metallic paint.
Our floor technicians were also kept busy on the shoot, blowing up an assortment of plates, bottles and using a flame thrower to burn a collection of 1980's Tee shirts that had inspirational Claude Slogans.
If you look closely you may notice that our Senior Floor Technician Matt Beckwith is doubling for Claude Littner complete with a fire retarded Business Suit.
