Our client, R3, asked us to create and install a rocket-ship and interactive launch control desk in their London offices. The brightly-coloured, permanent installation houses games console technology and comes with fun lighting and sound effects.
Working with interior designer Marianne Paulsen of Gather, we recreated her initial reference drawings as 3D CAD designs for manufacture. The centre piece of the installation is a 2.5m space rocket, which was CNC cut, moulded, and cast in GRP.
The rocket points upwards through a partially open iris into a light box, concealed within the ceiling cavity, which is painted to look like the night sky with LED illuminations.
The launch tower next to the rocket was fabricated from laser-cut steel, whilst underneath the rocket itself a launch pad is sunk into the floor. This features chasing LED lights and an exhaust-gas lighting effect when the launch sequence is initiated.
The accompanying launch control desk was designed to house a monitor and games consoles. Artem technicians fitted it with functional buttons, flashing LED lights and a digital countdown clock. Rocket, desk and tower were finished in durable high gloss paint.
All AV equipment was provided and installed by Candeo Vision.
We love our Corda rocket! It was a great experience working with Artem to create the concept. From the initial conversations... to the final installation everything was easy to understand and it was clear that the concept was understood. Being kept up to date at various stages of construction was brilliant and kept our imaginations sparked. The finished product is more than we bargained for, and of superior quality. I would highly recommend Artem any time.
